Will the award-winning English vocalist drop new music this Friday?
Sam Smith hasn't released new material since 2015's James Bonde theme, "Writing's On The Wall," which earned the English vocalist an Academy Award for Best Original Song. Two years later, Smith is prepping his long-awaited return to music, posting a rehearsal photo earlier this week and sending fanmail today that teases something new on the horizon.

"To my beautiful fans," Smith begins in the fanmail. "First of all I want to say thank you. Thank you for being so patient and for letting me have the past year to really escape into my mind and write music so freely. I feel so rejuvenated and have so many stories I can't wait to tell you."
He continues, "I have missed you all desperately, and a day hasn't gone by when I haven't been looking at all your comments and dreaming of singing with you all again. The wait is nearly over. Something is coming very very very very soon."

Considering Friday is the industry standard for releasing new music, it's very possible Smith will surprise drop a comeback single, or entire full-length album, later this week. Super fans have already began deciphering the haste of Smith's "very very very very soon" warning, because in a post-Lemonade world, it could arrive any second.
This era will follow the singer's 2014 LP, In The Lonely Hour, which included the unstoppable ballad, "Stay With Me," and painfully relatable, "I'm Not The Only One." A 2015 Grammy favorite, the breakout project won Best Pop Vocal Album with Smith's career-defining "Stay With Me" taking home Song of the Year, as well.
