Meet Rico Nasty, the Up-and-Coming Female Rapper Featured on the Insecure Soundtrack

LSDXOXO & Chief Keef

You may recognize her from her breakout hit "Poppin.'"

Today, Rapper Rico Nasty releases her "Key Lime OG Remix," featuring Shy Glizzy, her latest project after putting out two mixtapes, Tales of Tacobella and Sugar Trap 2, in 2017. You may not be familiar with the artist yet--although Insecure fans will recognize her breakout hit "Poppin'" from the soundtrack--but with exciting new work on the way, she could just be a breakout star of 2018.

Nasty started rapping in high school. "I didn't take it seriously at first, it was just something to do in my free time," she told us. "My first song was actually a diss track towards a female that went to my school. We were supposed to fight, but she told everyone in the school that she didn't want to fight me, so I dissed her."

After embarking on her first headlining tour last year, Nasty is poised to grow--she even mentioned talks of a possible collaboration with Grimes. She's also a big fan of LSDXOXO & Chief Keef.

Having her music on Insecure, though, is what really catapaulted her into the spotlight, receiving attention from outlets including Complex and Fader.

"I watched the first season of Insecure and I instantly became a fan, but became more of a fan when they used my song to end the episode and put a twist on it," she explained. "It just showed me how versatile my music can really be."
