Taylor Swift, who suddenly decided to come out as a LGBTQ+ ally just in time to sell her (not great) new music, just released a music video starring almost every famous gay person - it's like she went to our website and scrolled through the recent stories and said "yep, I'll take 'em!" Honestly, I'm surprised she could let get Pete and Chasten Buttigieg and the cast of Pose.
The video stars RuPaul, Queer Eye's Fab Five, Ellen DeGeneres, Adam Lambert, Chester Lockhart, Adam Rippon, Laverne Cox, Hayley Kiyoko, Billy Porter, several Drag Race queens, Todrick Hall, and more. The video has Swift waking up in her trailer (lol) and prepapring a cotton candy smoothie before taking a morning stroll through a trailer park full of gay people -- a nice nod to John Waters' Pink Flamingoes. She passes by an anti-gay protest, Jesse Tyler Ferguson getting married, the Fab Five having a tea party, and finally a drag pageant led by RuPaul. There's even a Taylor Swift drag queen! A food fight ensues, of course.
Then, the real gag of the video: Katy Perry -- Swift's longtime enemy -- shows up in her Met Gala cheeseburger dress! Swift, dressed as a carton of french fries embraces her, finally ending their feud. So this video starring a bunch of famous queer people was all about two white cis heterosexual women repairing their friendship. So the queers were literally just props? Huh...gay rights?
Well, I hope they all got paid well...happy pride!
