Model Aaron Philip Stars in Miley Cyrus' 'Mother's Daughter' Video
“I fight for my freedom by being myself.”
Miley Cyrus released her latest music video Tuesday morning -- sadly it wasn't for the second track on her Ashley O EP -- for "Mother's Daughter," the feminist anthem from her new EP, SHE IS COMING. The video channels the femme manifesto of the song, with Cyrus sporting a red catsuit complete with metal snatch teeth (vagina dentata the house) and posing with her actual mother, Trish Cyrus.
The video also stars a diverse cast representing the spectrum of womanhood, including rising model Aaron Philip, who made major headlines when she was signed to Elite Model Management. She made her runway debut earlier this month in Willie Norris' first collection, and appeared in Out's June/July Pride issue -- busy girl! Philip is unbelievably glam in her signature blonde bob, a rhinestone crop top, and purple platform heels, her wheelchair accessorized with what we can only assume is faux white fur (Cyrus is a vegan).
Before the video's release, Cyrus posted photos of the cast on her social media along with quotes from each woman. "As a black girl in a wheelchair who happens to be trans," reads Philip's quote, "I just want to have a good life and do good in whatever my endeavors consist of, regardless of what that might mean in the face of oppression. I do not identify or label myself as an activist, but that's just because I care -- and I think everyone should, activist or not. I fight for my freedom by being myself."
The video also stars actress Melanie Sierra, plus model An Acting Angel, and skater Lacey Baker.
