Lil Nas X Teases New “Holiday” Song When We Need Him The Most

Nasvember is basically here.

Lil Nas X is going from "Old Town Road" to Old Saint Nicholas with his new song, "Holiday," that he teased last night in a commercial during the NFL's game between the New Orleans Saints and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The commercial starts off with Lil Nas X in the Old West from his smash hit music video for "Old Town Road." There's a commotion, and a drunk Santa is pushed out of the saloon and into the street, where he passes out.

Just like in the classic Tim Allen movie, The Santa Clause, when Nas picks up Santa's hat, a magical transfer of power happens. He reads "You are the new Santa" as the hat goes from saying "Santa Claus" to "Santa Nas X."

With a look and spin, Lil Nas X goes from cowboy to Sexy Santa and his horse turns into a flying reindeer. "Ay, it's a holiday, I got hoes on hoes and they out of control" Nas sings over a hip hop holiday beat as he hops in a flying sleigh and time travels to the future.

The ad also features a cameo by everyone's favorite time traveler Michael J. Fox, dressed in his Back to the Future 3 best. "Whatever you do Nas, don't go to 2020," he sighs. It's advice we all wish we could take.

On Twitter, the singer teased that "Holiday" isn't the only song he's been working on. "Should i drop call me by your name too? A lil 2 pack?" he tweeted. Obviously any song named after that classic film is going to be a winner in our book. Back in October when he won the Billboard Music Award for Top Hot 100 Song for "Old Town Road," the superstar promised "I'm dropping the greatest album of all time" sometime soon. We believe him.

Lil Nas X rose to superstardom in 2019 with his record breaking song "Old Town Road," which spent 19 weeks at number one and won two Grammys. His last single, "Rodeo," peaked at number 22 on the Billboard Hot 100. Thank god he's back, heaven knows we need him.
