Though they've shifted some things around with the release of their album, Sam Smith is tiding fans over with some other releases. On Sunday the performer released an emotional cover of Coldplay's song "Fix You, which they first performed publicly a few months ago.
Covers have long been a part of Smith's career. Early on, a "How Will I Know" cover proved pivotal but the practice has continued on. In November, they notably dropped a cover of Donna Summer's transformative "I Feel Love." Now, it's time for a Coldplay track.
First performed in May as a part of the iHeartRadio Living Room Series, the new track is Smith's version of "Fix You."

"I love this song, and as soon as I heard it I was just reminded again of how much of a classic it is," Smith said at the time. When sharing the new song on Twitter, the songwriter thanked Coldplay for "writing such a beautiful song."
There is a chance that we could get more covers for Smith while still in quarantine. According to Billboard, while isolating they have "really weirdly fallen in love with singing again. I've been singing so many different songs, songs that aren't my own." Well, we are totally up for taking a listen as soon as you're ready Mx. Smith.
Though their album titled To Die For was originally slated to be released earlier this year, it was pushed back and its title scrapped as the global pandemic set in. A new title and release date have yet to be confirmed.
