After years of a pandemic hiatus, Justin Tranter's star-studded Spirit Day concert has returned.
The acclaimed songwriter and past Out100 honoree hosted GLAAD's fourth annual "Beyond'' Spirit Day Concert at his Los Angeles home. Tranter took the stage alongside Billy Porter, Jake Wesley Rogers, Shea Diamond, YDE, Luke Ferrari, Chloe Pappas, and Chappell Roan to help raises voices and over $400,000 in support of the LGBTQ+ nonprofit's campaign to support LGBTQ+ youth and end bullying. GLAAD President Sarah Kate Ellis was also on hand to deliver remarks stressing the struggles faced by LGBTQ+ youth in a record year for hateful legislation.
Other celebs present include Braunwyn Windham-Burke, Ashlee Marie Preston, and Imagine Dragons' Dan Reynolds. This year's event was sponsored by Ketel One, Kellogg's, M&M's, and WWE.
Started in 2010, GLAAD's annual #SpiritDay, celebrated this year last Thursday, was created as an anti-bullying initiative for LGBTQ+ youth. Spirit Day provides much-needed visibility to LGBTQ youth who experience bullying at disproportionately high rates. Each year, GLAAD encourages millions of people to wear purple in solidarity with LGBTQ+ youth.
Past Spirit Day concerts featured performers Bebe Rexha, Idina Menzel, and LGBTQ singer-songwriters Jesse Saint John and Jozzy. Notable past guests included Troye Sivan, August Getty, Frankie Grande, Nick Jonas, Darren Criss, and Daya.
