30 Best Sapphic Bops of 2022
These are our 30 favorite sapphic bops this year!
What is a sapphic bop?
Not all sapphic pop songs are sapphic bops. Sapphic bops are specifically fun, they make you want to dance, and they're typically more about sex, flirting, and love than yearning, heartbreak, and longing (although that rule can be bent). They can be any genre: rock, dance, pop, hip hop, r&b, or even country.
These are songs you want to dance with your girlfriend at a club to or add to your sex playlist, not songs you'd sing with an acoustic guitar at an open mic night or ones you'd listen to while crying in your bedroom.
This is not to say that we don't love the yearning side of sapphic music, we definitely do. And you know we'll be listening to Tegan and Sara, girl in red, Phoebe Bridgers, and KD Lang next time we go through a breakup. But we also want to celebrate the sapphic bops we were dancing to all year.

Betty Who's album Big was great, and on this wonderful track she sings about self-love and how no matter what anyone does, she's going to keep dancing and keep shining.

On this electro-dance track, Gia Woods sings about gaining the strength to stop picking up the phone when her ex calls. Woods knows she's moving on to better things, like dancing to this song.
26. "Busy" - Tiger Goods
This is one of the more chill songs on the list, but it still makes our heads bop. Goods raps and sings about being busy and having big dreams.
25. "Naked in Manhattan" - Chappell Roan
In this synth pop bop, Roan sings about her first time with a girl, and it sounds amazing. We wish all of our first times were like this.
24. "F*ck Your Labels" - Carlie Hanson
Carlie Hanson is defying your attempts to make her fit into boxes for you. She's proudly putting herself out there, and if you don't like it, that's your fault. We'll be over here dancing while you have a bad attitude.
23. "I Can't Grow Up" - Tegan and Sara
Sometimes you just have to be a brat and tell people you don't want to grow up. Tegan and Sara perfectly channel that part of us in "I Can't Grow Up" where they sing about not wanting to grow from the bad relationship patterns we find ourselves in.
22. "God is a Freak" - Peach PRC
Lesbian singer Peach PRC declares that she's proud of what she does in the bedroom, and if anyone, God included, has a problem with it, they're the ones who are messed up.
21. "Call Me" - Ivy Sole
This sexy rap single is deceptively simple, but we were bopping our heads to Ivy Sole's smooth flow all year long.
20. "Act Up" - BAYLI
BAYLI is smooth as hell on this song. Launching endless compliments at her lover and bragging about the strength of their love is so, so sexy on this short but great song.
19. "Sugar at the Bottom" - Hayley Kiyoko
Kiyoko warns us to stay away from her ex, no matter how sexy she is. Hayley didn't find any sugar at the bottom of this relationship, but now she's free, and she's warning us to stay away too in this great song.
18. "You Could At Least Say Goodbye" - Reyna
This bouncy, bass-heavy song that mixes English and Spanish is an anthem for anyone who's been ghosted. With Reyna's dreamy vocals, the song is a great way to lift your mood.

Rina Sawayama brings this triumphant, Lady-Gaga-esque song about knowing when to ask for help. This song makes us want to sing along all night long.

An anthem for the serial heartbreakers who were just made that way. In this bop, Fletcher lays out all of her flaws for us to see, and still asks us to love her. And we do.
12. "Ruin My Life" - Zolita
It actually ends up being rather sweet what Zolita would go through for her lost love in this song. She's always great at telling a story, and here, Zolita tells a great story over a great pop beat.
11. "She's So Cool" - Sarah Barrios

Even Kehlani has regrets. In this sexily swinging track, she sings about love that didn't work. This song is a club anthem for everyone who's getting out there again after a bad breakup.

The Aces gave us this rock classic about how overpowering queer love can be. They're writing love poems, lending girls their jean jackets, and absolutely dying to confess their love.
8. "Girls Just Wanna Have Sex" - mazie
With chiptune sound effects and a rock guitar, mazie sings about getting lost in the sensuality of another girl. With lyrics that will make most sapphics blush and a fun attitude, this song is one of the best of the year.
7. "Jenny" - Marisa Maino
"Do you like Jenny more than me" this song can't help but ask in the classic conundrum of you and your boyfriend both liking the same girl. Maino can't help but confess that she finds Jenny so much more attractive than the boy she's with, and we can't help but sing along.
6. "Fruity" - Chloe Moriondo
Moriondo got creative with the fruity lyrics about how sweet it can be to be gay. "Says I'm sweeter than a cherry, and she likes it/Stay up late and watch the strawberry sunset/Got me fuzzy like a peach and it's pit-less out tonight," she sings. It's so much fun we listened all year long.
5. "I F*cking Love You" - Zolita
We love Zolita. Her trilogy of songs and music videos that started last year with "Somebody I F*cked Once" and concluded this year with "I F*cking Love You" is one of our favorite gay rom-coms ever. Zolita combines cinematic lyrics with great hooks and never leaves our playlists.
