Miss Colombia was the prettiest woman in the world... For about five minutes.

Just when you thought beauty pageants were a boring antiquated ritual, Steve Harvey pulls a John Travolta and calls out the wrong name at the worst possible time.

Remember that time you meant to text that photo to the guy you met on Grindr and you accidentally sent it to your boss? That's probably the kind of mortification Harvey is going through right about now... Multiplied by the millions of people in the audience, watching at home, and replaying the moment on YouTube.

Although Harvey announced Miss Colombia Gutierrez Arevalo as Miss Universe, he shortly returned to the stage to admit his mistake. Miss Colombia was actually first runner up, and Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, was supposed to be crowned as the winner. Meanwhile, Miss USA is still second runner up.

Miss Congeniality

As Miss Philippines walked forward to switch out with Miss Colombia, the tension was about as excruciating as you could imagine. Harvey apologized and showed the card to the camera, just to clarify. In the age of insta-memes, the Internet had a field day and there are currently over 5.1 million tweets related to the event.

Harvey then took to Twitter to apologize for his mistake. But he made MORE mistakes, misspelling the names of both countries.

"I want to apologize emphatically to Miss Philippians and Miss Columbia," he wrote. "This was a terribly honest human mistake and I am so regretful."

He later deleted the message -- but not before it was retweeted more than 30,000 times. So he followed up with another apology.
