For part one of the three-part series on the controversial pseudo-treatment, Vice investigates a gay conversion retreat.
Despite the fact that states are starting to crack down on gay conversion therapy, a practice that the psychological and medical communities deem at best ineffective and at worst dangerous and deadly, the promise of turning gay people straight still has an appeal for many conflicted men and women.
But how does gay conversion therapy actually work? For the first segment in a three part investigative series, news network Vice sent their cameras to Journey Into Manhood, a gay conversion retreat.
Beyond testimonials and interviews with the camp's founders, patients, and critics, the network was also given unprecedented access to the "therapeutic" sessions that take place at Journey Into Manhood. Watch the shocking expose below.
