Looking to read queer-themed, first-person narratives? Then you probably already know about I'm From Driftwood (if not, get on it!) An LGBT story archive that shares personal stories aimed to increased empathy, understanding, acceptance, and a sense of belonging, I'm From Driftwood was created by Nathan Manske back in 2009, and the nonprofit organization has since published nearly 1,000 stories online, featuring notable contributors such as Alan Cumming, Laverne Cox, Dustin Lance Black, and Annise Parker, among others.
Whether you're a longtime fan of I'm From Driftwood or a new reader, grab a ticket to the Fifth Annual BBQ fundraiser this Saturday in New York City. Tickets start at $75, but all profits will go toward furthering I'm From Driftwood's mission, and of course, will get you access to an open bar, BBQ, photos, and jazzy tunes (ummm...#perks).
All ticket information can be found here and event details are posted below. While you're at it, you may as well read up on I'm From Driftwood. Enjoy!
