A federal judge has ordered Kentucky clerk Kim Davis jailed for contempt of the law, after she repeatedly refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. The courthouse scene today is the culmination of a drawn-out series of events, with Davis appealing the marriage eqaulity ruling numerous times, with each appeal being denied. Most recently, the Supreme Court denied her appeal, ordering her to begin issuing licenses.
Judge David L. Bunning said:
"The court cannot condone the willful disobedience of its lawfully issued order. If you give people the opportunity to choose which orders they follow, that's what potentially causes problems."
Davis is one of three Kentucky clerks who have refused to serve same-sex couples. Finally, some justice has been served.
