In an op-ed for The New York Times, Ernesto Londono says that he's "rooting for Donald Trump."
"Not because I want to see him attempt to build an impenetrable wall along the border with Mexico nor because I've been following his grotesque campaign with the kind of guilty gusto that got me hooked on the reality show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. I'm rooting for Donald Trump because he could unlock the potential of America's Latino electorate."
Londono goes on to write how Trump's candidacy and his xenophobic rantings might be the catalyst needed to get the Latino community to come out and vote en masse, which could fundamentally shake up the American political landscape.
In his article Londono references Ricky Martin's op-ed calling for Latinos to "unite against Donald Trump."
Martin penned the article last month after Univision journalist Jorge Ramos was removed from a Trump news conference after questioning Trump's immigration policies out of turn.
"The fact that a person like Donald Trump, a candidate for the U.S. presidency for the Republican Party, has the gall to continue to freely harass the Latino community day after day makes my blood boil," wrote the out Puerto Rican singer. He then called for collective action by the Latino community.
It remains to be seen if both Londono and Martin will get their wish and see the Latino community come together and change things up, but if anything or anyone can, it's Donald Trump.
