A gay couple in Indonesia were arrested this week after sharing a romantic photo om Facebook.Â
Two gay men in Indonesia were arrested earlier this week after posting affectionate photos of themselves on Facebook.
The photos show the couple as they lie in bed together exchanging a kiss captioned "with my dear lover tonight. May our love last forever."
Police arrested the couple after the photo went viral fueled by hateful comments from angry social media users.
The couple is now being charged with breaking anti-pornography laws as homosexuality is not a crime in the country, Yahoo News reports.
"The couple admitted it's them in the picture and they posted the picture to prove their love," local police spokesman Marzuki told AFP.
The 22-year-old university student and 24-year-old office worker are not in police custody, but could be jailed if found guilty.
Indonesia has become an increasingly hostile environment for LGBT people with possible bans on gay sex and gay dating apps.
