The Clinton campaign came close to asking Apple CEO Tim Cook to run alongside Hillary for vice president this election.
An email from John Podesta, Hillary Clinton's campaign chairman, shows a list of possible running mates nearly 40 deep and includes Cook.
The email, which was leaked by WikiLeaks, also includes prominent Democratic politicians like Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders, and Tim Kaine--whom Hillary ended up choosing.
In an earlier email about meeting with Cook, Clinton campaign staff were cautioned to "proceed cautious" because Cook was "new to this."
Cook has hosted events in support of and donated to both Democrats and Republicans. The leaked emails have come under suspicion lately as the Clinton campaign has accused WikiLeaks of colluding with Russian hackers.
