Ellen: 'I Believe That We Can All Come Together'

x

The host called for unity, not infighting.

Ellen DeGeneres pre-taped her latest episode of Ellen Tuesday afternoon, before the pending election results came in. In the clip, she urged Americans to find unity and not let results further divide voters.

"People have been very passionate about this race," Ellen said, taking on a more serious tone than usual. "And I think it's because we all love our country, we just have different ideas about what's best for it. Which is part of what makes America great."

She continued: "I believe that we can all come together, because if you take away the labels, you realize we are far more alike than we are different."

In the wake of Trump's shocking win, Ellen's words couldn't be more important. We must get involved with our nation's politics, not only at election times. We must find common ground and not let this outcome lead to the end of peaceful democracy.
