Tinder Introduces Transgender-Inclusive Update

Swipe right for acceptance and inclusion.

It's a world of possibilities in the latest update for Tinder, one of the world's leading dating apps. In honor of Transgender Awareness Week, the company unveiled it will be enhancing profile customization by expanding the gender display options to accommodate more than just man or woman.

"Our goal is to provide a product that gives our transgender and gender non-conforming users a better experience on Tinder," said Tinder CEO Sean Rad in a release. "We're really excited about the update and believe it is the right step to take as a company to create more meaningful connections between all our users. Everyone is welcome on Tinder."

Trans man and trans woman options are now available in the app's profile options, and the company has teamed with GLAAD and film producer and trans advocate Andrea James to make a lasting commitment to inclusivity. "For many trans people, opening up to a new romantic prospect about being trans can be a really nerve-wracking experience," said James in a release. "I know this update will help trans and gender nonconforming users feel more comfortable while forging relationships."
