A Virginia mayor has been arrested after allegedly exchanged methamphetamine for sexual encounters, according to NBC Washington.
The mayor of the City of Fairfax Richard "Scott" Silverthorne was arrested on Thursday when he made the exchange with an undercover detective at a nearby hotel.
Police told NBC Washington that a citizen warned police in July that the mayor could be providing meth in exchange for sexual encoutners with men found on a website. An undercover detective made a profile on the website, and was in contact with Silverthorne within a few days. The detective agreed to meet Silverthorne, who promised to bring other men along.
Police have not identified the website, and they so far only know of one person Silverthorne had a relationship with.
Silverthorne has been the mayor of the City of Fairfax since 2012, and is also a substitute teacher for Fairfax County Public Schools.
