Donald Trump Joked That Mike Pence Wants to 'Hang All Gay People'

Good morning and we hope you had a good weekend because Donald Trump jokingly said that Mike Pence wants to hang all gay people. In a heart-warming New Yorker piece today called "The Danger of President Pence," there's a long list of horrifying things we should know about the Vice President and, among them, is this little bit about his extremist views on abortion and gay people sandwiched into a bit about how the president mocks his religious views. Read it and weep:

"A staff member from Trump's campaign recalls him mocking Pence's religiosity. He said that, when people met with Trump after stopping by Pence's office, Trump would ask them, 'Did Mike make you pray?' Two sources also recalled Trump needling Pence about his views on abortion and homosexuality. During a meeting with a legal scholar, Trump belittled Pence's determination to overturn Roe v. Wade. The legal scholar had said that, if the Supreme Court did so, many states would likely legalize abortion on their own. 'You see?' Trump asked Pence. 'You've wasted all this time and energy on it, and it's not going to end abortion anyway.' When the conversation turned to gay rights, Trump motioned toward Pence and joked, 'Don't ask that guy--he wants to hang them all!'"

Oh man, isn't it great to know somehow who could easily become the president has views so extreme that his boss jokes that he wants gay people to die? The laughs! He also hosts bible study groups in the White House led by a pastor named Ralph Drollinger who is, yes, batshit crazy and a misogynist. Surprise! Drollinger wrote in 2004 that "women with children at home, who either serve in public office, or are employed on the outside, pursue a path that contradicts God's revealed design for them. It is a sin." Oh, and he thinks Catholicism is a "false religion," being gay is a sin, and that wives must "submit" to their husbands. Love it!
