Kim Davis Running For Re-Election As County Clerk

Kim Davis, the Kentucky County Clerk who spent five days in jail after refusing to give out marriage licenses to gay couples, is running for re-election, Reutersreports.

Davis was arrested in September 2015 after denying gay people marriage licenses because it went against her religious beliefs. After four couples sued Davis for refusing them, Kentucky removed county clerks' names from marriage liceneses. This made the lawsuits moot, though lawyers are still entitled to legal fees.

Despite encouragement to run for higher office, it appears Davis is only interested in maintaining her clerk seat. In October, Davis ventured with Christian ministry group Liberty Counsel to Romania, where she met with politicians and religious officials against same-sex marriage.
