Transgender people can continue enlisting in the military starting January 1st.

Donald Trump's transphobic policies continued their losing streak today. A federal judge ruled today that his transgender military ban, which we should note makes literally no logical sense, will not go into effect. The decision goes against Trump's request to delay a previous order that required the military to begin accepting transgender recruits starting January 1st.

The ruling by U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly follows an earlier decision that blocked the president's ban on military recruitment of transgender men and women that could've led to forced dismissals of current service members starting in March.

"Today's legal victory is the latest step towards preventing Trump's bigoted trans military ban from ever going into full effect," said Sarah Kate Ellis, President and CEO of GLAAD, in a statement. "The Trump administration is struggling to provide any evidence that open trans enlistment be must be delayed because none exists beyond their own hate-fueled anti-LGBTQ agenda."
