NYC Cop Whose Pride Dancing Went Viral Dies From 9/11-Related Cancer

Michael Hance was a 17-year veteran of the NYPD.

NYPD officer Michael Hance, who went viral in 2015 for twerking during NYC's Gay Pride Parade, died this Sunday from 9/11-related brain cancer after being diagnosed in November. While fighting the disease, the cancer eventually spread to his lungs, liver and chest.

The 44-year-old was a a 17-year veteran of the NYPD, working out of the 111th Precinct in Bayside, Queens. He also was a member of the bucket brigade in the aftermath of 2001's terror attacks on the World Trade Center.

"He always liked to help people," his brother, Peter Hance, told the Daily News. "He always liked to do good."

When asked about Michael's Pride video, Peter said, "That's just who he was. He was definitely a people person. He has like 8 million friends."
