Markie More announced he will donate a portion of his salary toward funding the Gay Straight Alliance Network. The gay porn star promised to personally donate $150 from each of his sex scenes; Next Door Studios, the production studio responsible for More's scenes, will also donate $100 for every scene he appears in.
More made the statement this weekend during the Phoenix Forum, an annual trade show and networking event for the adult industry. Next Door Studios hosted its annual party in Arizona, where More discussed on-stage why he left and returned to the industry. He said porn has helped him become more comfortable with his sexuality, and now wants to publicly return the favor.
"I've always felt a calling to help people especially those who can't necessarily help themselves," More said at the event. "As the years have gone by this feeling within me has become increasingly stronger."
More, who had previously retired from the industry, said he changed his mind because his on-screen work allows him to have a greater cultural impact on the community.
"It wasn't until I took some time to myself and reflect, that I realized I don't need to leave," he said. "This is the very industry that changed my life for the better in so many ways. Being comfortable with who I am, my sexuality, my confidence. It's helped me grow in ways I wouldn't have imagined. I realized I can still fulfill this calling and while continuing in the industry."
