Lady Gaga has responded to Trump's transgender military ban announced yesterday morning, condemning the President's attack on the trans community, and saying he's "endangered" their lives.
“The message you have just sent has endangered the lives of people all over the United States and overseas bravely serving our nation @POTUS”— Lady Gaga (@Lady Gaga) 1501103416
“.@Potus Research says at least 1/2 of High School, University Students, & Employed Young People rarely/never discuss mental issues w/ anyone”— Lady Gaga (@Lady Gaga) 1501103892
“Many of these young people are transgender & suffer daily from the exact types of social isolation & targeting ur message encourages @POTUS”— Lady Gaga (@Lady Gaga) 1501104503
“. @POTUS Sincerely, did you know of the group you singled out today, 45% of them ages (18 to 24) have attempted suicide already?”— Lady Gaga (@Lady Gaga) 1501105226
“Within the Trans Community are many also who are strong & brave. They should be able to serve if they wish. To have honor if they do @POTUS”— Lady Gaga (@Lady Gaga) 1501106736
Gaga's been joined by a slew of artists and celebrities who have criticized Trump's controversial ban. Other musicians include Tegan and Sara, who posted:
“I have complex feelings about the military but banning trans people sets a dangerous and shameful precedent about who matters. This is f'd.”— Tegan and Sara (@Tegan and Sara) 1501081864
Other singers have also shared their support for the trans community--one such star is Ariana Grande:
Scores more have been vocal about the cause, including leaders from every corner of the nation, from Caitlyn Jenner to Chelsea Manning and John McCain.
Lady Gaga's response comes days before her Joanne World Tour is set to begin in Vancouver on August 1.
