Yes, Jimmy Kimmel Plans To Address #TimesUp at the Oscars on Sunday

The Oscars this Sunday are to be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, who today revealed in an interview with Vanity Fair that he will, indeed, include content about #MeToo and #TimesUp in his monologue and hosting content.

Kimmel had previously seemed to indicate that he would not be broaching the subject that's been dominating Hollywood conversation for the majority of recent months. In a sit-down with ABC News, he had said "This show is not about reliving people's sexual assaults" and that "I'm not going to stop any bad behavior with my jokes." However, it sounds like he's changed his tune.

When asked by Vanity Fairif he had thoughts prepared concering Time's Up, he said:

"I do, yes. It's very tricky because when people are scared they don't laugh, and when there's a camera in their face they behave differently than they do in a comedy club or in the audience on a talk show. When you're put in that position, those in the audience become a little bit of a deer in the headlights. That's the part [where] you have to rely on experience and the knowledge of your medium."

He added that coverage of the Oscars audience does tend to sensationalize moments out of context, explaining: "We all know that what happens during and after the Oscars is that people will take a screengrab of somebody and build a whole story around it."
