On Sunday, Colombia elected two openly queer Congressional candidates into government during their Parliamentary elections.

Mauricio Andres Toro Orjuela of the Green Alliance, the first openly gay Congressman in Colombia, was elected into the House of Representatives for Bogota.

Angelica Lozano Correa of the Green Alliance, who held a seat in the House of Representatives, just got elected into Senate. She happens to be the partner of Senator Claudia Lopez, also of the Green Alliance. They are the first openly queer women to work in Congress.

"Again, thank you with my heart with those who trusted me with their voice and their vote," Lozano Correa said on Twitter.
