The singer discussed sexuality and more on ‘Popcorn with Peter Travers.'
Ricky Martin stopped by 'Popcorn with Peter Travers' to discuss his role as Antonio D'Amico on American Crime Story: Versace. The two also discussed Martin's sexuality, coming out, and family.
"For those out there that are struggling with their identity, everything is going to be fine," Martin said. "Just be yourself and love yourself."
Travers pointed out Martin's positive energy when he came out, and how the wording was intentionally joyous. Travers quoted Martin, "'I'm proud to say I am a fortunate, homosexual man.'" Travers lingered on the usage of the word "fortunate."
"Listen, let's put it this way," Martin said. "My kids are too young, but I wish they were gay. It is a very special thing. The sensitivity, it's the way I see things now, that I don't have to hide things in any way, shape, or form. I see colors. And then you see the rainbow. I understand why the symbol is the rainbow because it's just real, everything is tangible. It makes me a stronger person. I wish I could come out again, because it felt amazing."
