Neil Simon, one of the most legendary Broadway playwrights in history, has died at age 91. Simon was best known for his plays The Odd Couple, Barefoot in the Park, Lost in Yonkers, Sweet Charity, and Biloxi Blues. Simon ended his long battle with kidney disease when family took him off life support Sunday morning.
A prolific playwright with over 30 plays to his name, Simon won three Tonys, a Pulitzer, and the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and is often thought of as the most commercially successful playwright of all time. He is also credited with helping to shape contemporary American comedy. In 1977, Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre was renamed in his honor
