The gay couple was eventually given an egg of their own to raise.
It was like something straight out of an episode of Law & Order SVZoo when a gay penguin couple in a Denmark zoo stole a chick from its heterosexual parents.
The father was left to watch the baby while the mother bathed and the gay penguins, according to Attitude, were so desperate to start their own family that they kidnapped the fledgling after observing its inattentive parents.

"I could see there was something wrong," said Sandie Hedegard Munck, one of the zookeepers, after seeing footage from the penguins' enclosure. "The parent couple was gone and the kid had been kidnapped. There was a couple of homosexual males who had snatched the kid and stood with it."
Though Munck thought the heterosexual pair would be eager to find their missing offspring, she said only the mother seemed interested in searching for it, while the male wandered around unbothered. Once she found her chick in the care of the gay penguins, the mother became aggressive and zookeepers had to intervene and return to the newborn to its birth parents.
Though the gay penguins didn't get away with their kidnapping plot, the couple was given an egg by zookeepers to raise and care for after the penguin that laid it was unable to raise it.
