Arizona Legislator Proposes Porn Tax to Fund Trump's Border Wall

Arizona has found a way to make masturbation racist AF.

Arizona state representative Gail Griffin (R-Hereford) has proposed a law that would force anyone who wants access to pornographic material to pay $20 to the state, the Arizona Mirror reports. Because that's not even absurd enough, the money raised from this Fap Tax would be used to fund Trump's Border Wall.

Under the law, introduced as House Bill 2444, any retailer who sells laptops (or any electronic device you can use to wank off??) would have to install porn-blocking software onto them and then charge the customer the $20 tax if they wanted access. The bill also says that distributors would be free to impose their own taxes on people just looking to buy a computer and jerk off in peace.

But it's not just $20. Those wanting to watch porn would have to make a request (not sure to whom!), acknowledge they are over 18 years old, acknowledge they are willing to see "obscene" material and then pay the fee. Under the proposed law, distributors who do not collect the tax from consumers would also get a misdemeanor charge.

Money collected from the tax would go toward the border wall as well as the "John McCain Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation Fund," which the bill would also create. The money would fund grants to "uphold community standards of decency" while "developing, expanding or strengthening programs for victims of sex abuse."

Of course, as we've seen with FOSTA/SESTA, which was passed purportedly to stop sex trafficking, laws that are often meant to help "victims of sex abuse" and uphold decency often put people, especially sex workers, in even worse situations. Now it seems Arizona has found a way to silence sex workers while also turning a profit to build the wall.

Mike Stabile, a spokesman for the Free Speech Coalition told the Mirror that the bill is "pretty clearly unconstitutional." FSC is a non-profit that advocates on behalf of the adult entertainment industry. Stabile said while the censorship aspect is old, "the border wall twist is new."

Unfortunately, Arizona's bill is not unique. Similar "porn blocker" bills have been floated in Virginia, Kentucky, and Alabama, just to name a few.

Alright, at this point, we're in agreement this bill is terrible, right? Well, to make it even worse, the bill is also linked to an anti-gay activist named Chris Sevier, who literally tried to marry his laptop to protest marriage equality. And because irony is real, he also once sued Apple blaming the tech company for his ... survey says! ... porn addiction.

Maybe legislators worried about people watching porn should focus on the government shutdown, which has not only raised the ire of rapper Cardi B, but has also caused a huge spike in visits to PornHub.
