The fake heiress reportedly had a girlfriend at Rikers.
Pseudo heiress and scam queen Anna Sorokin, better known as Anna Delvey, seems to have found love in prison -- with a woman.
Page Sixreported that Sorokin had gotten married in jail, which her lawyer Todd Spodek shot down as "false." But a source inside the prison claimed that, nuptials or not, "Anna had what she called some sort of girlfriend on Rikers Island" before being moved to Albion Correctional Facility in upstate New York.
"She did say that she had a 'girlfriend,'" the unnamed source added.
Sorokin became a grifting legend after two high-profile articles about her -- one in The Cutand one in Vanity Fair -- exposed her as a fake heiress who scammed various banks and businesses out of roughly $200,000. She also attempted to secure a $22 million loan to launch a highbrow, members' only art club, and glommed onto members of high society's inner circle by posing as one of their own.
Sorokin was eventually sentenced to 12 years in prison in May, but she's since become something of an icon from behind bars. Next year, Shonda Rhimes will adapt Sorokin's story for her first Netflix show,Inventing Anna, which will star Ozark's Julia Garner as the titular felon. Laverne Cox is set to play celebrity trainer and life coach Kacy Duke.
"Anna's whirlwind went far and wide, and sucked into it was Kacy, a celebrity trainer and life coach who -- while centered enough to keep herself out of the real trouble -- finds herself becoming a coach to more than just Anna in the wake of her crimes," per to a press release.
If Hustlers proved anything, it's that pop culture loves a glamorous scam artist, and now that Sorokin might be queer to boot... time to start sending her fan mail!
