A lawsuit claims Epstein used her to commit immigration fraud
Convicted rapist Jeffrey Epstein forced one of his victims to marry his accomplice in a sex trafficking scheme, according to a new lawsuit filed this week.
According to the suit, filed by a victim identified as Katlyn Doe, Epstein employed a woman as a "recruiter" to ensnare other vulnerable women and girls for his ongoing sexual abuse. The recruiter was not a US citizen, and Epstein coerced the two women to enter a fraudulent same-sex marriage for immigration purposes, according to filings.
Doe alleges that she was 17 years old when she met Epstein, during which time she suffered from an eating disorder and another "serious medical condition" that required surgery. In 2013, she says, Epstein offered her $20,000 if she married his recruiter, paying half of the amount up front and promising the rest when they divorced. According to the suit, she continued to submit to Epstein's sexual abuse in the hopes of getting needed medical treatment.
Instead, she says, Epstein dismissed her as "too old" when she turned 25, and never paid the remaining balance even after the marriage ended in 2017.
What's more, Doe says, Epstein was aided by his "long-time New York attorney" in creating the false marriage, with the women staging photographs to make it appear as though they were actually a couple.
"Jeffrey Epstein continued to use the still-owed $10,000 as a cudgel to cause plaintiff to continue to engage in commercial sex acts," the lawsuit charges. "Plaintiff was never paid the additional ten thousand dollars Jeffrey Epstein had promised to pay her for the marriage favor, nor was she ever able to receive the surgery that she continues to need today."
In the time that she was abused by Epstein, Doe alleges, she was housed at 301 East 66th Street in New York, a building owned by Epstein's brother Mark according to The Daily Beast. As Jeffrey Epstein's only remaining close relative, Mark could be the main heir to the $600 million hoarded by his brother.
The allegations are part of a trio of new lawsuits filed against Epstein, naming seven businesses and foundations that he and his team used to engage in criminal acts. Katlyn Doe's suit doesn't name Epstein's accomplice, but another lawsuit filed by a plaintiff named as Priscilla Doe alleges that longtime Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell was frequently present and aided in the abuse of young women and girls. Maxwell is a British citizen, and there is as yet no indication that she is the accomplice Katlyn was forced to marry.
The suit comes just one day after Epstein's lawyers filed his will in St. Thomas, a tax haven used by the rich to avoid financial obligations to society. Epstein signed the will two days before his death.
In an interview conducted with the New York Times shortly before his death, Epstein spoke glancing of homosexuality, comparing it favorably to pedophilia.
