The actor opened up about his incredibly prolific career during the latest Out cover party.

The latest issue of Out features Billy Porter as its cover star!

During the recent party celebrating his new cover, the actor, singer, and fashion icon reflected on his long career and what’s changed over the years regarding queer Black representation in mainstream media.

Porter reflected during an interview with Out:

“I’m so grateful that I’ve lived long enough to see the day where my queerness, which I was told would be my liability by allies and haters alike, and was my liability for decades, and now that queerness is my superpower.”

He also talked about his huge comeback to music, as a brand-new album is currently in the works.

Porter explained, “My first R&B album came out on A&M Records in 1997. The business was very homophobic and it didn’t work out so well for me. I really wasn’t interested in not being my full self. And so now, all these years later, I get to come back on my own terms. And it takes my breath away.”
