The 18-year-old singer began indulging in bad ways -- and the music that came to inform her anything-but-innocent, '80s-tinged pop songs -- when she was still in middle school -- or supposed to have been in middle school. "In eighth grade I would skip school and take three buses to Sunset Boulevard where I'd go into Amoeba records and spend a few hours looking through stuff," she says. Now Ferreira is reaping the benefits of hitting the streets instead of the books. She released her first EP, As If! in March, currently stars in the new CK One campaign shot by legendary photographer Steven Meisel, and will unleash her debut full-length album later this summer.
