The Brazilian bombshell and Pit Crew star of RuPaul's Drag Race is spilling all the tea about his spicy new show in an interview with Out.

Bruno Alcantara became a global sensation after joining RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 4 as a Pit Crew member in 2018. Since then, Alcantara has returned for every single flagship and All Stars season of the U.S. series, and even made a very special appearance in the first season of Drag Race Brasil.

Despite his ever-growing presence in Mama Ru's queendom and the fact that Drag Race queens and fans are all obsessed with him, Alcantara has been looking for ways to show more of his personality when he's not in full Pit Crew mode. And as of this Friday, August 30, the Brazilian heartthrob is launching a brand-new talk show, In Bed With Bruno, on YouTube.

"I wanted to create a space where I could share a little more of myself, so that people can connect with me in a different way and on another level," Alcantara tells Out. "I obviously love what I do on Drag Race; I think it's such an important show for our LGBTQ+ community. And I'm very grateful for everything the show has done for me and my life. But I still remember the day when I sat down to write the concept for In Bed With Bruno, and it made so much sense."

He explains, "Here's the thing: my bed is my favorite place. I love to be in bed. I can stay in bed for hours without music, without anything, just looking at the ceiling. I love doing absolutely nothing. It's also usually the place where I get my deepest thoughts and ideas. And if I'm in bed with other people, I love having deep conversations. It's a great space to feel relaxed, to be vulnerable, to share dreams, ideas, desires, concerns. It's a place to have those 'What's keeping you awake at night?' conversations."

Alcantara also loves to spend time with new people in bed, noting that it's a great place to learn more about them. "For me, in that moment, I just feel comfortable enough to share things," the In Bed With Bruno host says. "It's a point of connection, and it quickly creates intimacy when you're getting to know someone."

"So, this new show comes not only from my connection with spending time in bed, but also as a space where I can share a little more of myself… where I can give myself more of a voice," Alcantara reflects. "I think there's a lot more to me than what people see on Drag Race and on social media. This new series is an important step for people to have a different perception of me, to get to know a new side of me."

Interestingly enough, recent seasons of Drag Race have been showcasing Alcantara more than ever. Namely, he's appeared as a guest in the Snatch Game of season 15. He's also sat in the judging panel alongside RuPaul and Michelle Visage a few times, like during LaLaPaRuza episodes from season 16 and All Stars 9. With that in mind, this feels like the perfect place for Alcantara to expand his horizons and launch his own talk show.

"I'm so grateful for the relationship and the space that they've given me," he says, with his signature smile. "Did you see that? It was so crazy. I didn't expect to be sitting on the judging panel with them, and now I'm getting hooked on having this new vantage point to watch the queens and the lip syncs."

Alcantara moved to the United States 10 years ago with the goal of learning to speak English. Over time, he's built an incredible rapport with Drag Race judges, queens, and viewers, and is about to launch his own talk show in which he only speaks English. "10 years ago, a show like In Bed With Bruno would've never been possible… literally," he says. "This is yet another dream of mine that is coming true, and I've had the privilege of interviewing some amazing people for the show."

No kidding! The six-episode first season of In Bed With Bruno features legendary comedian and actress Margaret Cho, Big Brother 24 winner Taylor Hale, queer pop star Vincint, model and influencer Dexter Mayfield, podcast extraordinaire Zack Peter, and multimedia drag superstar Mo Heart.

"They were all such cool, smart, and interesting guests, and I got to learn a little more about their lives," he says. "I've always liked to understand people's heads, the way they think, and why they make the choices they make. I just love it. One question that I asked to basically all of them was along the lines of, 'What's a life lesson that really made a difference in your life?' I personally have so many lessons that I've picked up over the years, so I enjoy listening to stories that other people held onto, and I can sometimes find a way to apply those lessons to my own life."

But don't get it twisted, babes! This is a huge mattress, which means that In Bed With Bruno has plenty of room for fun, games, and spicier topics, too. "We are talking about beds, and we are talking about Bruno, so we have to spice it up, of course!" Alcantara explains. "As I get more comfortable with the guests, we also talk about more sexual topics, and play a few fun games together, which is a blast."

As we keep kiki-ing in Portuguese as two Brazilian-born gay men living and working in the U.S., Alcantara has the audacity to say that he wants "everyone to see that my bed is a hot spot. I want to make everyone feel like they wanna get in bed with me."

He's obviously talking about new guests for In Bed With Bruno, but I tease him by pushing back on that last statement. Alcantara already wouldn't have any issues inviting people to join him in bed. Like, let's keep it real, sis! "Well, I don't know, just in case," he replies, and we start laughing.

I quip back, "Bruno, don't act surprised now. You know plenty of people are ready and willing to jump in bed with you!"

"Oh my god, imagine each of them jumping in bed with me and we end up breaking the bed every time," he says, and we start laughing all over again.

In Bed With Bruno is a collaboration between Alcantara and the Prysm Talent management company that represents him. The web series is sponsored by Trojan Brand Condoms, executive produced by Cory Andersen, and directed by Meg Brown — and Alcantara shows how grateful he is for all the creative partners and guests that helped him make this show possible.

Alcantara also mentions the challenges he faced while filming the talk show. He wasn't used to conducting interviews, or building rapport with his guests so quickly, or making something out of any situation that he encountered while filming. This reminds him of Taylor Hale, and he takes his time explaining why she was so important to him as a guest.

As two gay men ought to do, Alcantara and I start stanning Taylor Hale for a few minutes. We talk about how smart, how stunning, and how well-spoken she is. We reflect on the fact that she made history by becoming the first-ever Big Brother winner in the U.S. to also be voted America's Favorite Houseguest. And for Alcantara, it's clear that Hale played an even more important role to him on a personal level.

"I don't think that's going to be the first episode — but when we filmed it, Taylor was my first guest. I actually need to send her a DM soon," he explains, now in a more serious tone. "I was really excited and anxious and nervous when we started filming, and Taylor being my first guest… she is so full of light, and present, and playful. Our chemistry was so incredible. She actually set the tone and helped my process for filming all the other episodes. Taylor was my first guest, and after being with her, I just felt like, 'Oh, I got this.' She doesn't even know how big of a positive impact she had on me and on the show."

Alcantara remembers that the director of In Bed With Bruno asked if he and Hale had been long-time friends, and they hadn't, but their chemistry certainly felt that way. I tell Alcantara that he carries a very similar warm and welcoming energy as Hale does, which is clear to anyone watching the judges and the queens interacting with him on Drag Race, as well as the social media exchanges he has with his fans.

Since we're talking about Big Brother, here's a fun fact: the Brazilian edition of the series, Big Brother Brasil, has followed a casting strategy in its five most recent seasons that mixes celebrities with not-famous players living under the house and competing for the same prize. The result has reinvigorated BBB (the official nickname for the Brazilian show) as a reality TV juggernaut for ratings and sponsorships. So, would Bruno Alcantara compete on Big Brother Brasil?

"Yes, I would," Alcantara tells Out without hesitation. "It's a huge opportunity that can open so many doors and so many possibilities. So, yeah, I would do it. In fact, I've sent audition tapes in the past. and I've done interviews with them twice. But they haven't called me back."

Looking ahead, Alcantara sees In Bed With Bruno as a possibility to expand his horizons and hopefully do even more television. For the record, though, he's not going anywhere when it comes to the Pit Crew. "I love what I do on Drag Race," he says. "I have a blast on the show, and I have so much love for RuPaul. He is such an inspirational person in my life. So I'm going to stay there until they kick me out or think that I'm too old to show my body," he laughs.

Oh, Bruno, we have a feeling that's not happening anytime soon!

New episodes of In Bed With Bruno drop every Friday on Bruno Alcantara's YouTube channel, so make sure you subscribe to it!
