With Florida becoming the 36th state that allows same-sex marriage, couple's in Miami-Dade county began marrying Monday, Jan. 5.
"The judge has ruled, and we wish these couples the best," Florida State Attorney General Pam Bondi's press secretary told The Associated Press in an email. Bondi's office didn't even bother to send a representative to Monday's hearing in a Miami-Dade courthouse, and offered no objection when state judge Sarah Zabel announced she was lifting a stay placed on her pro-equality ruling, allowing same-sex couples to begin marrying in that county Monday afternoon.
Now hundreds more have been tying the knot around Florida so far, and VISIT FLORIDA dispatched Florida-based journalists to several Florida destinations to capture images or video of same-sex weddings taking place from Northwest Florida to South Florida. Check out the photos of the following pages.
