Slay Model Management, one of the world's first agencies to exclusively focus on transgender models, has selected 20 finalists for its first-ever Worldwide Transgender Model Search. The event will be held Saturday, February 15, 7 p.m. Pacific Time at Goya Studios in Hollywood, and will be taped for broadcast on the LGBTQ+ video service Here TV. Those interested in attending can find seats at Eventbrite.
Three models from the competition will win one-year contracts with Slay Model Management. The event will be hosted by supermodel Arisce Wanzer and DJ Lina Bradford, who are both represented by Slay Model Management. The names of judges have yet to be announced.
"We chose each girl for her star quality," said Cecilio Asuncion, the founder and director of Slay Model Management. "It takes more than beauty to be a top model. It takes determination, a healthy outlook, and a visceral understanding that she is a model first, and a trans woman second."
"Slay is not about selling transness," Asuncion adds. "We are selling a young woman's capability to represent a brand or a designer."
