Mike Pence Is Going to a Fundraiser Hosted at...a Gay Club

Mike Pence attends Trump fundraiser at gay-owned Caribou Club in Aspen, Colorado.

Well, technically, it’s a private club owned by two gay men in Aspen, Colorado…but still!

Mike Pence will apparently appear at a fundraiser hosted at a venue owned by some gays in Aspen, Colorado. Damn, Mike, if you wanted to party with gay dudes in the Centennial State, Aspen Ski Week was six months ago!

The Vice President traveled out west to attend two different fundraisers on Monday, Colorado Public Radio reports. The first will be a fundraising event for Republican Sen. Cory Gardner, and the latter will be a $35,000-per-couple dinner raising money for Pres. Donald Trump's reelection campaign and the Republican National Committee. Pence was also scheduled to visit an ICE detention center in Aurora on Friday, CPR says -- the same one where protesters pulled down an American flag and raised an upside-down, defaced American flag and a Mexican flag one week prior -- but that was canceled.

While Pence's every move is generally cause for concern (I mean, homophobia? Calling his wife "mother"? Alarming!), it's the venue for one of the Vice President's Monday evening fundraisers that's causing all the commotion on the gay blogs. The $35,000-a-couple dinner, which will donate $2,700 per couple to Trump and the remainder to the RNC, will apparently happen at the Caribou Club, a private club in downtown Aspen owned by two gay men, The Aspen Timesreports. Billy Stolz, one of the club's owners, did not return the Times' request for comment.

The owners aren't hosting the event -- that dubious honor belongs to RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel; RNC CO-Chairman Tommy Hicks, Jr.; and RNC National Finance Chairman Todd Ricketts -- but they are gay, which is weird for anything Pence-related. Do they know he's gonna be there? Does HE know who owns the joint? Will a bunch o' queers show up uninvited and turn the stuffy function into some kind of late-aughts, electroclash revival dance party? We'll just have to wait and see!
