Cher is getting involved!
On the heels of her protest of the cuts to the United States Postal Service, Cher is set to headline a fundraising event for presidential nominee Joe Biden. Deadline reports that the event will be an LGBTQ+ fundraiser set to air virtually on August 31.
Cher has been in Biden's corner all year. In February, she endorsed Biden writing to Twitter "Joe's made mistakes, like all of us, but I believe he would be honest, smart, civil president who doesn't have to learn on the job." Biden responded in kind.
"Thanks for the kind words," he wrote. "I'm in Vegas this week. Let me know if you need an opener!" At the time Cher was closing out a Vegas residency. And while they didn't get to do that, they still are working together.
The new fundraiser will see Cher headline and include appearances by LGBTQ+ politicians. Pete Buttigieg will make an appearance, as will Senator Tammy Baldwin and Representative David Cicilline. Baldwin made history in 1998 when she became the first out queer woman elected to United States Congress, and Cicilline made history in 2003 when he became the first out gay mayor of a U.S. state capital.
Tickets for the event start at $1,000 per person and go up to $100,000. Donors of $50,000 and above will get to participate in a "virtual clutch" according to Deadline.
