Months after declining to perform at the White House for a Pride Month event, Chappell Roan reveals her wild plan for that occasion.

It's giving iconique.

Months ago, Chappell Roan was invited by the Joe Biden-Kamala Harris administration to perform at a Pride Month event at the White House. She declined to participate in it, however, given the administration's stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Well, it seems like Roan had a very different original plan for that White House performance, as described in her recent cover story with Rolling Stone.

"Roan tells me she had something 'way worse” planned," Rolling Stone's Brittany Spanos writes. "She was originally going to say yes, show up, and then refuse to perform; instead, she would protest with some poetry."

Roan explained:

"I had picked out some poems from Palestinian women. I was trying to do it as tastefully as I could because all I wanted to do was yell. I had to find something that’s tasteful, and to the point, and meaningful, and not make it about me and how I feel. I don't know if I'll ever get that close in direct sight of the president ever in my life. This is my shot."

Roan didn't move forward with that original plan — choosing instead to decline the invitation — after hearing advice from her publicist. According to the pop star, the publicist told her that when "you f*ck with the president and the government, your security is not the same, and neither is your family's."

"I saw a couple of TikToks where they were like, 'So she's pro-Trump?' It is not so black and white that you hate one and you like the other. No matter how you say it, people are still going to be pissed for f*cking some reason. I'm not going to go to the White House because I am not going to be a monkey for Pride. And thank God I didn't go because they just made a huge statement about trans kids a couple weeks ago."
