As reported by The Advocate, Julie Johnson just made history as the first LGBTQ+ person from the South to ever be elected to Congress. Considering that she's from Texas, this is an even bigger deal!

Ritchie Torres

When first elected, Ritchie Torres became the first out LGBTQ+ Afro-Latine person elected to the U.S. Congress. As the incumbent U.S. representative for New York's 15th congressional district, Torres is keeping his role after winning BIG in the 2024 election.

Mark Takano
Mark Takano has won his race in the 2024 elections, which means that he'll remain the sole out LGBTQ+ AAPI person to serve in U.S. Congress.

Another historic victory came from Emily Randall, who won Washington State's sixth congressional district and became the first out LGBTQ+ Latina in Congress, as reported by The Advocate.

When Tammy Baldwin was first elected, she made history as the first out LGBTQ+ U.S. Senator of all time. This year, Baldwin won the U.S. Senate election in Wisconsin and secured her third term.

Also from Wisconsin, Mark Pocan's victory in the 2024 election means that he'll continue to be a shining light of LGBTQ+ representation in the House of Representatives.

Angie Craig has just been elected to start her fourth term in Congress representing the state of Minnesota.
