The annual event takes place Nov. 8-10

After 11 straight--or rather, non-gender binary queer--sold-out festivals, The San Francisco Transgender Film Festival returns with its largest line up yet. Unlike previous years, all the screenings are in one place in the middle of the Mission: The Roxy Theater.

The SF Trans Film Fes was founded in 1997 as the world's first transgender film festival and is committed to exhibiting "groundbreaking, provocative, outrageous, courageous, & innovative works" that show the "complexity of lives lived on the transgender spectrum," according to the event organizers.

And they don't disappoint this go around. Friday's opening night gala sets the tone for the entire weekend with transgender shorts films, including the creepy, but strangely cute, "Loving The Boney Lady," the contemplative "Change over Time," and the funny "Dating Sucks: A Genderqueer Misadventure."

Things get more radical on Saturday with porn, punks, queers, and revolutionaries all under the banner Grrrls! The must-watch event of the day is the sneak peek at the upcoming Riot Grrl! documentary, and a music video from local heroes Alabaster Choad.

That night transforms into an 18-and-over event for a Christopher Lee tribute, starting out scholarly with a discussion on gender and queerness in fuck/talk and ending with the genre-defining Alley of the Trannyboys. Sunday begins with an afternoon showing of transgender shorts followed by an exclusive showing of the German film, One Zero One. Get your tickets now: only 50 seats available.
