Fund This: Gay Nightmare on Elm Street 2 Documentary

"That movie is so freaking gay..."

It's a phrase that can be often heard when a stupid person refers to a movie he or she doesn't understand and lacks the education and vocabulary to say so. But for the sake of the film Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge, it's like seriously true. Where to start: The leather bar? The shower death scene? The lead character, Jesse, and his awesome dance party in his bedroom? So gay.

The homoeroticism has long been a talking point among Nightmare on Elm Street fans, and now a kickstarter fundraising campaign has been started to fund the documentary Scream, Queen!. The film will analyze the homoeroticism present in the film, explore the Hollywood gay subculture of the 1980s, and track the feverish reaction that has engulfed the film from the time of its release to now.

Mark Patton, the star of Nightmare on Elm Street 2, will be the primary subject of the documentary. Intimate accounts will show how the backlash against the original film has permanently affected his life and career. It's been 30 years since Nightmare on Elm Street 2 stormed theaters, and Sceam, Queen! promises to hold up a mirror to Hollywood to see how far treatment of the LGBT community in film has come.
