Season 2 turns an investigative eye to the U.S. military.
Last year, the Serial podcast gripped millions of listeners. Actually, to be more specific, it was downloaded over a 100 million times, and given that many of the listeners had never listened to a podcast before (myself included), this is even more astounding. Now Sarah Koenig and her team have returned and premiered the first episode of their second season.
While last season focused on the ongoing investivation into the case of Adnan Syed, this season switches gears and will be tackling the case of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Berghdahl. Under mysterious circumstances, Berghdahl deserted his military post in 2009 and was captured by the Taliban shortly after. He was held prisoner until a controversial decision was made in 2014 to swap Berghdahl for five Taliban members who were being detained in Guantanamo Bay.
