Although she keeps busy with her civil rights advocacy work and her hosting duties on the streaming cultural series So Popular! on MSNBC's Shift, best-selling author and journalist Janet Mock found time to stop by Oprah Winfrey's SuperSoul Sessions talk series at the University of California, Los Angeles.
The newlywed bride gave viewers on Winfrey's cable network and the world an in-depth look at her journey to becoming one of the LGBT community's most vocal and visible faces.
In the session, titled The Path of Authenticity -- Embracing the Otherness,Mock talked sincerely about her transition into the woman she is today; a woman who, as Winfrey pointed out, is doing her part to teach the world that sexuality and gender is a spectrum.
"I am proud of what I have been able to accomplish, but most importantly, I am proud that I can be a mirror for young girls," she said at one point during her presentation. "A mirror that I didn't have growing up."
