The 5 Gayest Moments of Super Bowl 49

The 5 Gayest Moments of Super Bowl 49

Katy Perry

How Katy Perry, Johnny Weir, and Lindsay Lohan made this a camp spectacle for the ages

Though the most watched sporting event in America may not seem like a gay spectacle of epic proportions, it kind of is. The pageantry of the ceremonies, the often camp, tongue-in-cheek humor of the commercials, the Halftime Show...well that speaks for itself. As for this year's game, it was no different. Besides Idina Menzel singing her lungs out with the "Star Spangled Banner," here's our list of Super Bowl XLIX's five gayest moments.

1. The Halftime Show.

Most Super Bowl Halftime Shows make the biggest Broadway spectacular look like a high school production of Grease by comparison. This year's extravaganza, however, took the glitter and bejeweled cake. Katy Perry entering on a giant robot tiger, that shark on the left who needed to get his shit together, Miss Elliot...Missy Freakin' Elliot! It was pure, kitschy brilliance.

2. Lindsay Lohan's Esurance Commercial.

When I first heard that LiLo was doing car insurance commercial and was being allowed behind the wheel of a moving vehicle, I frantically began calling friends and family to warn them to stay off the streets. Well turns out that Esurance was a step ahead of me and decided to use Lohan's hot mess, Judy Garland towards the end rep to their advantage.

3. The Pitch Perfect 2 Trailer.

"There's going to be some haters out there. They are going to look at us, Team USA, and be like, why is the most talented one Australian?"

4. Whatever Johnny Weir Thought He Was Wearing.

Johnny Weir

Seriously, what in the Mad Max Beyond the Bedazzled Thunderdome hell is that?

5. Sarah Silverman's and Chelsea Handler's T-Mobile Commercial.

These two NEED to be back on television!
