Empire, the self-declared biggest show of the season, has increasing audience sizes every week. On top of stellar writing, big names like Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson provide the groundwork for a seriously talented cast, including Jussie Smollett, who plays Howard and Henson's characters' gay son, Jamal.
In a recent interview with XFINITY, Smollett talked about his intense scenes with Howard, whose character is completely incensed by his son's lifestyle, and his character's on-screen relationship with Rafael de la Fuente's character, Michael.
"What you're going to see...God, I love Jamal and Michael so much. I love them. Jamal loves Michael and I love Rafael, who plays Michael. We're so close but you will see Jamal's changing and that's the kind of sadness that you see. Michael is going to be there and Michael is going to support him but you see some disagreements and some ups and downs because they're human and they're growing and they're young men in their early 20s but, yeah, Jamal is changing and Michael is a part of Jamal's reality at this moment. We'll have to see what ends up happening."
