PBS Talks Korra, Fan Fiction & LGBT Representation
Idea Channel celebrates Valentine's Day with queer TV
Just in time for Valentine's Day this Saturday, the PBS online show Idea Channel--well-known for asking intriguing questions about modern pop culture--has turned its attention towards LGBT representation in children's programming. Using The Legend of Korra, which ended with a same-sex relationship, as a launching point, the episode discusses how television shows can better reflect the experiences of their LGBT fans, while also covering the fiction those fans may create to ensure their stories are told.
Are you a fan of shipping, or would you rather stick to dry canon land? Mike, Idea Channel's host, addresses viewer comments at the end of almost every video, so feel free to make your opinion known over on YouTube.
