The Independent Spirit Awards were unfortunately overshadowed by the HBIC of award shows...the Oscars. But still, we thought it worthwhile to give a Spirit-ed update.
The nominees and winners weren't too surprising this year, considering the Independent Spirit Awards rules and regulations: films must have less than a 20 million dollar budget (#pocketchange) and be "American," among others.
