Pee-Wee Herman is Headed to Netflix With a New Film
Get ready for Pee-Wee’s Big Holiday.
If there's been a noticeable lack of red bow ties and honking laughs lately, fear not, the dry spell is almost over.
The new film, Pee-wee's Big Holiday, starts production in a few weeks and once finished will be available on Netflix. And it gets even better.
Judd Apatow worked with Pee-Wee himself (Paul Reubens) to put the project together and will produce the film. Reubens co-wrote with Paul Rust (Comedy Bang! Bang!, Arrested Development), and John Lee (Broad City, Inside Amy Schumer), and Rus will make his feature film directing debut with Big Holiday.
According to press notes, in the film, Pee-Wee will have "a fateful meeting with a mysterious stranger" that inspires him to take his very first holiday.
"As a fan of Pee-wee Herman since he first appeared on The Dating Game, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the brilliant Paul Reubens on this film," Apatow stated in a release. "It is a dream come true."
Pee-Wee added: "Judd and I dreamt up this movie four years ago. The world was much different back then -- Netflix was waiting by the mailbox for red envelopes to arrive. I've changed all that. The future is here. Get used to it. Bow tie is the new black."
If the wait still seems too long, there's plenty of Pee-wee here.
